Therapeutic Recreation provides specialized and inclusive programs for individuals of all abilities.
Therapeutic Recreation Programs are created specifically to be inclusive or adaptive in nature for individuals with disabilities and their peers. They are typically smaller in size with higher staff supports and are designed to be an introduction to the activity.

The goal of Therapeutic Recreation programs
  • Enhance / Enrich Quality of Life
  • Increase Recreational opportunities for People with Disabilities
  • Increase Independence
  • Increase physical activity
  • Enhance / Foster Social Skills
  • Enhance / Foster Community Engagement opportunities
  • Work on individualized goals and objectives through Recreation and leisure

Inclusion Support within Recreation Programs
Inclusion Services are provided for individuals of all ages and abilities who may have a disability, medical condition or life challenge.
Inclusion support can be requested for any in person Recreation program.
Inclusion is an individualized process and can look differently for everyone, it is important to us that we provide the best support for each individual.

How to Request Inclusion Support
  • When registering for the program, check off "Yes" for needed inclusion support.
  • Once you have registered and requested inclusion support, the Recreation Department will send you an email asking you to complete an intake packet. This packet will provide the Recreation Supervisors information on how to best plan for your child in the program. This information is then condensed and relayed to program staff to help them support each participant in a variety of ways.
