Fundamental drills on groundstrokes, volleying and serve, as well as strategy on singles and doubles play will be taught. Conditioning and strength training will also be discussed.

This is an instructional program with an emphasis on fundamentals: passing, shooting, rebounding, dribbling and defensive skills through a complete series of drills and scrimmages.

Quincy Recreation Leaders-in-Training Program Too young for a part-time job, but too old to be a camper? Get a head start on developing important job skills during an active session of learning teamwork and leadership skills. What is the Leaders-in-Training (L.I.T.) Program?This summer Quincy Recreation will be offering a Leaders-in-Training (L.I.T.) program for Quincy residents who are entering grades 10 and 11 in the fall of 2024. This program is designed for those who are ready to take on fresh challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities. L.I.T. Program participants will develop important life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and communication in a setting that is both supervised and supportive. The Leaders-In-Training program will provide teens with training and hands-on experience with day-to-day activities at popular Quincy Recreation summer programs, under the supervision of Recreation Staff. While L.I.T.’s are not staff members, they will be treated with the utmost respect and will have a Performance Evaluation weekly. Please note that participation in this L.I.T. program does NOT guarantee being hired as a staff member. It is strongly believed that everyone is a leader to some extent.  An individuals actions influence and impact others around them. Because of this, we feel that it is important for everyone to understand what is required for good leadership and that is why we are beginning this Leaders-In-Training program. Who should sign up for the Leaders-in-Training (L.I.T.) Program? The Leaders-In-Training program is designed for those individuals entering grades 10 and 11 in the fall of 2024 who are interested in learning about leadership, teamwork, and working with children. L.I.T.’s must be responsible, be great with kids, have tons of energy, and like to have fun! The L.I.T.’s will assist in the day-to-day activities of summer programs under the direction of the Recreation Department Staff.Advantages to being a Leaders-in-Training (L.I.T.) We service individuals with diagnoses that include but are not limited to Autism Spectrum disorder, ADD/ADHD, ODD, Down Syndrome, Learning Disability, Intellectual Disability, Traumatic Brain Injury, Visual Impairments, Hearing Impairments and Physical Disabilities.

The William F. Ryan Boating and Sailing Facility is located in scenic Merrymount Park. The boating facility is located on Black’s Creek, a pristine saltwater lagoon ideally suited for boating and sailing. This facility is named for William F. Ryan, the city’s first full-time director of recreation, serving from 1955-1975. For over 60 years the instructors at the William F. Ryan Boating and Sailing Facility have taught the city’s children ages 8-16 the fundamentals of boating. Pickleball can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. It’s a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. We will provide all equipment, 3 indoor courts, and up to 4 outdoor courts weather permitting. (You are welcome to bring your own Dillers/paddles.) Beginners and Experienced players are welcome.You must register to play and space in each group is limited, participants are encouraged to register online early below.  The fee for the six-week sessions is $30 for Quincy Residents and $45 for Non-Residents for each session for which you register.

Join us for the fastest-growing sport in America! A paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn. Pickleball can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. It’s a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. We will provide all equipment, 3 indoor courts, and up to 4 outdoor courts weather permitting. (You are welcome to bring your own Dillers/paddles.) Beginners and Experienced players are welcome.You must register to play and space in each group is limited, participants are encouraged to register online early below.  The fee for the six-week sessions is $30 for Quincy Residents and $45 for Non-Residents for each session for which you register.

Program?This summer Quincy Recreation will be offering a Leaders-in-Training (L.I.T.) program for Quincy residents who are entering grades 10 and 11 in the fall of 2024. This program is designed for those who are ready to take on fresh challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities. L.I.T. Program participants will develop important life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and communication in a setting that is both supervised and supportive. The Leaders-In-Training program will provide teens with training and hands-on experience with day-to-day activities at popular Quincy Recreation summer programs, under the supervision of Recreation Staff. While L.I.T.’s are not staff members, they will be treated with the utmost respect and will have a Performance Evaluation weekly. Please note that participation in this L.I.T. program does NOT guarantee being hired as a staff member. It is strongly believed that everyone is a leader to some extent.  An individuals actions influence and impact others around them. Because of this, we feel that it is important for everyone to understand what is required for good leadership and that is why we are beginning this Leaders-In-Training program. Who should sign up for the Leaders-in-Training (L.I.T.) Get a head start on developing important job skills during an active session of learning teamwork and leadership skills. What is the Leaders-in-Training (L.I.T.) Program?This summer Quincy Recreation will be offering a Leaders-in-Training (L.I.T.) program for Quincy residents who are entering grades 10 and 11 in the fall of 2024. This program is designed for those who are ready to take on fresh challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities. L.I.T. Program participants will develop important life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and communication in a setting that is both supervised and supportive. The Leaders-In-Training program will provide teens with training and hands-on experience with day-to-day activities at popular Quincy Recreation summer programs, under the supervision of Recreation Staff. While L.I.T.’s are not staff members, they will be treated with the utmost respect and will have a Performance Evaluation weekly. Please note that participation in this L.I.T. program does NOT guarantee being hired as a staff member. It is strongly believed that everyone is a leader to some extent.  An individuals actions influence and impact others around them. Because of this, we feel that it is important for everyone to understand what is required for good leadership and that is why we are beginning this Leaders-In-Training program. Who should sign up for the Leaders-in-Training (L.I.T.) We will provide all equipment, 3 indoor courts, and up to 4 outdoor courts weather permitting. (You are welcome to bring your own Dillers/paddles.) Beginners and Experienced players are welcome.You must register to play and space in each group is limited, participants are encouraged to register online early below.  The fee for the six-week sessions is $30 for Quincy Residents and $45 for Non-Residents for each session for which you register.

Join us for the fastest-growing sport in America! A paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn. Pickleball can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. It’s a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. We will provide all equipment, 3 indoor courts, and up to 4 outdoor courts weather permitting. (You are welcome to bring your own Dillers/paddles.) Beginners and Experienced players are welcome.You must register to play and space in each group is limited, participants are encouraged to register online early below.  The fee for the six-week sessions is $30 for Quincy Residents and $45 for Non-Residents for each session for which you register.

Fundamental drills on groundstrokes, volleying and serve, as well as strategy on singles and doubles play will be taught. Conditioning and strength training will also be discussed.
 
8:30 AM - 10:30 AM    Recreation Swim Team Clinic - Summer Swim Team - Session 1 Grades 2 - 5
*All participants must be able to pass the deep end swim test and be American Red Cross Level IV or higher.This program will introduce and refine competitive skills and provide exposure to a number of different types of training during each session.Each day will focus on different facets of competitive swimming: Freestyle, Turns, Breaststroke, Starts, Butterfly, Backstroke, Races, and Relays

This clinic will include a wide variety of individual skills from defense to offense.
 
9:00 AM - 2:00 PM    Therapeutic Recreation Programs - Happy Acres Summer Program - Session #2
Therapeutic Recreation Recreation programs and events for individuals of all ages and abilities.Therapeutic Recreation ensures that individuals of all abilities have the appropriate support to successfully participate in recreation programs and services. We service individuals with diagnoses that include but are not limited to Autism Spectrum disorder, ADD/ADHD, ODD, Down Syndrome, Learning Disability, Intellectual Disability, Traumatic Brain Injury, Visual Impairments, Hearing Impairments and Physical Disabilities.

Jump Start Junior Sports Academy Clinics: This clinic provides a week of traditional athletic activities under supervision that will include soccer, basketball, introductory golf, and T-ball!
